Harvey Williams

Statement

My name is Harvey Williams and I am Bespoke Tailoring Graduate at London College of Fashion. I chose tailoring as my first degree knowing I would move into designing after. I needed to understand quality construction to inform my designing.

Since 2016 I have worked at London eco-couture label Deborah Milner. Deborah gave me my first window into the industry and the ethical and environmental impact of fashion, which has influenced my own value system.

Womenswear is the area I lean towards and my natural inclination of elegance, rather than avant-garde which is subtly contemporary with a focus on detail. However, the interest I have in the blurring gender lines, and blurring of what is considered womenswear or menswear is an area my skills set could be easily applied to.

I was commissioned by Huntsman Tailors to develop a tie advertisement video and over the last two years I have worked in Harrods on designer concessions.

In my second year at LCF, I won an industry project, sponsored by Scabal, where I had to produce a concept and product for Gen Z.

The future is as exciting as it is challenging, ethical and progressive fashion is one answer to the crisis. I want to be open to possibilities and explore the disciplines of fashion with creative inventiveness, using craft and developing technologies to be ready to tackle these challenges.
